Nate is a lifelong practitioner of theatre who calls himself, first & foremost, a director. His work focuses on examining identity and how politics affect our lives on a national and personal scale. He believes that ensemble is one of the most important aspects of theatrical story-telling. He enjoys collaborating with playwrights, designers, technicians, and actors to create as full and engaging a performance as possible. He approaches every project throughly researched and with a sense of play. In 2018, he moved to New York City to pursue further theatrical opportunities and was accepted into the SDC Foundation's 2018-2019 Observership Class.
A native of the Greater Cincinnati area, Nate was involved with his parents at The Drama Workshop from ages 8 to 20. He graduated from Clark Montessori High School in 2010 where his senior project was kickstarting a theatre program where one previously had not existed; a student-run theatre program still thrives at the school. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Kentucky University with a BFA in Acting. He spent his first year out of college as the inaugural apprentice for Clifton Performance Theatre, an acclaimed storefront theatre in Cincinnati. He spent the following year as their resident stage manager and then become an artistic associate when he directed the world premiere of Robert Macke's The Road Through Damascus. He has primarily directed new works that have been performed as part of the Know Theatre of Cincinnati's Serials, The Cincinnati Fringe Festival, and the One-Minute Play Festival. In March 2018, he staged a critically acclaimed, contemporary-set production of A Streetcar Named Desire at Falcon Theatre in Newport, Kentucky.
Since moving to New York, he has continued working with playwrights on developing new works with organizations such as NYMadness and New Wave Theatre Collective.
